NJ Bonner: Rutgers Food Security Team Leader

The Collaborative’s Food Team Initiative supports university and community-based Food Access programs such as the New Brunswick Community Food Alliance (NBCFA), Feeding Middlesex County and the Feeding Network Network. The NBCFA aims to improving access to government feeding programs, nutrition education, and urban gardening. The mission of the NBCFA is the development and maintenance of a sustainable local food system in the city of New Brunswick so that all of its residents have access to adequate amounts of nutritious, safe, affordable, and culturally appropriate food at all times in socially acceptable ways and enjoy the health and economic benefits of a strong local food system.

Member Duties : - Increase capacity of NBCFA, the Feeding New Brunswick Network and Feeding Middlesex County to serve local residents. - Sustain partnerships with local community organizations - Maintain on-going communication with the staff of service sites - Recruit volunteers and facilitate days of service - Coordinating knowledge and skill-based training for volunteers - Coordinate volunteers to assist with the city and county’s efforts to alleviate food insecurity. - Participate in monthly Feeding New Brunswick Network meetings - Complete research and fieldwork for food-related projects - Assist with AmeriCorps reporting - Assist in completing quarterly progress reports
