MTCC AmeriCorps Leader- Sidney- Richland County
The Boys & Girls Club’s mission is to inspire and enable all young people to realize their full potential and become productive, responsible and caring citizens. The Boys & Girls Club of Richland County ("The Club") is an after school program for children in kindergarten through 12th grade designed to provide a safe place for kids to learn and grow. There are few other community alternatives for after school care. A lack of affordable alternatives may lead to some families choosing to allow their young child to go home alone. The Boys & Girls Club is a place where ongoing relationships with caring adult professionals occur and where life enhancing programs and character development experiences happen. The Club offers daily activities of homework help, arts & crafts, and gym. Also offered are high yield learning activities (hiding learning in fun) and Character Counts! AmeriCorps Team will consist of a MTCC AmeriCorps Leader and 4 college student Team Members and will serve K-12 youth to help them consider, plan for, and prepare for postsecondary education. Each MTCC AmeriCorps Leader will commit to serving a 1700 hour term of service (approximately 35-40 hours/week) and will engage in all required MTCC in-person and webinar trainings. They will maintain a working relationship with Site Supervisor for reporting about AmeriCorps Team activities and will ensure proper documentation and contact information for MTCC AmeriCorps. Successful Leader candidates will serve as College Positive role models and be passionate about creating equitable opportunities and addressing barriers for all youth to attend college.
