Member Duties : The primary goal for the AmeriCorps member is to provide direct support and services to student participants through the use of available materials, resources, academic knowledge, and personal abilities that will enable students to successfully meet the requirements of high school, as well as provide students with guidance that will aid in their success in college, such as tutoring, study skills assistance, mentoring on college life, and challenging environments that encourage students to learn, share, question, and grow.
•Provide academic counseling and mentoring to first generation college students in Rutland County High Schools
•Interact with target high schools and school personnel
•Facilitate study skills workshops for first generation college students
•Coordinate tutor-advisors from Castleton University
•Improve upon existing and implement new types of community service projects for high school student participants
•Mentor near-peer summer residential mentors
