Arizona Ready for College & Career Juvenile Court PT
 
 
 
Through this project CSI@NAU will place 65 AmeriCorps members who will prepare students for on-time high school graduation and college enrollment in low-income communities and Title 1 schools in Arizona whose on-time high school graduation rates are lower than the national average of 81.4%. The AmeriCorps member at Coconino County Juvenile Court in Flagstaff, will perform a variety of assignments related to assisting prospective college students and their families prepare for a postsecondary education, providing assistance in completing the FAFSA, college/career planning, admissions applications, scholarships, and other related steps. The member will receive training in college access from the Arizona College Access Network and Northern Arizona University.

Member Duties : Assist high school seniors to complete the Federal Application for Student Aid (FAFSA). Assist youth to complete the Education and Career Action Plan (ECAP). Provide support to youth enrolled in the department’s education programs, including Detention School, Transition School, and the GED program. Provide support to youth enrolled in the Flagstaff school district Summit High School. Assist with the facilitation of the Department’s Career Investment Program. Participate in parent support group to coach and inform parent in assisting their children to increase college and career readiness. Provide career and college readiness to students who are served by the Department’s office in Page, AZ. The AmeriCorps member will assist with the ongoing development of our youth’s five life skills for success with a primary focus on the skill of “Planning for the Future.”
