AmeriCorps Career Coaches

The AmeriCorps Career Coaches is a partnership between the Ohio Commission on Service and Volunteerism (ServeOhio), College Now Greater Cleveland, and the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD). The goal of the AmeriCorps Career Coaches is to deliver curriculum on college and career readiness and to serve as role models and coaches for incoming freshman students in five Cleveland Metropolitan School District High Schools to impact the skills and career gap in Greater Cleveland. Career Coaches will provide direct support and interventions, as appropriate, for all incoming freshman students through both individual and group interactions. Career Coaches will serve as positive role models, assisting teachers, parents and staff with helping students stay on track for graduation, monitor attendance and academic progress. Career Coaches will help students set post-secondary education goals and begin career exploration activities. At the end of the program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for impacting an increase in student’s knowledge of career and college opportunities; interest in further pursuing a path toward a postsecondary education and belief that their postsecondary college or career goals can become a reality. The AmeriCorps Career Coaches program will engage a total of 10 AmeriCorps Members to serve in a full-time capacity (1,700 hours in 11 months) from August 1, 2018 to June 28, 2019.
