Inspiring Futures VISTA - Boise, ID

The Idaho Department of Labor’s Inspiring Futures VISTA Project seeks to build capacity of local communities around college and career advising. The VISTA will increase the scope of their community asset map regarding career development for its youth population and review similar activities in other communities and organizations to develop best practices. This will include working in partnership with the Idaho Office of the State Board of Education and the Idaho Department of Education to collect measurement data and use findings to further develop and improve individual school programs within their specific regions. The VISTA will serve as the liaison between the communities in their area, state agencies and stakeholders in an effort to increase communication and implement college and career readiness goals. The VISTA will also develop a volunteer database of local businesses willing to assist their local schools with college and career development through a variety of activities including: career fairs, mentoring, job shadowing & classroom presentations. The VISTA position is a full-time, one-year commitment serving Boise, Twin Falls and their surrounding communities. This is a great professional development opportunity for anyone who is interested in a career in education. Members will receive extensive training and support to build new skills.
