Chisholm Trail RSVP-Texoma Council of Governments (Sherman)

The mission of the Texoma Council of Governments (TCOG) located in Sherman, TX is to improve quality of life across Cooke, Fannin and Grayson counties by delivering direct social and life-line services to citizens and professional and technical planning services to our local governments. The Aging & Disability Resource Center (ADRC) serves as a highly visible, trusted resource for assistance with access to a full range of community-based long-term service and support options via a “no wrong door” model for individuals regardless of age, income and disability. The ARDC has identified a severe affordable housing shortage throughout the region and a lack of community opportunities that address the vocational and/or housing needs of persons with any type of disability. AmeriCorps VISTA members perform only indirect service; interaction with clients will be limited and the member will spend the majority of his or her time in an office setting. However, the Affordable Housing Grant and Resource Development VISTA at TCOG will build capacity through the research of funding opportunities and preparation of grant applications that will build financial capacity to contribute to the development of affordable and transitional housing. As a TCOG VISTA, you will be part of a cohort coordinated by the VISTA North Texas project at Chisholm Trail RSVP, Inc. To learn more about the Aging and Disabilities Resource Center with TCOG, visit www.texoma.cog.tx.us/departments/client-services/adrc/. Early applications strongly encouraged.
