Houston Refugee Project Communications VISTA Leader

Alliance for Multicultural Community Services is a community-based organization devoted to serving refugees, immigrants and low-income populations in Houston. Alliance provides comprehensive services to assist clients in becoming economically self-sufficient and improve their quality of life. Alliance also strives to ensure that newly-arrived Americans are integrated into the mainstream community and understand American culture and traditions. Originally founded by Association of Cambodian, Ethiopian, Laotian and Vietnamese refugee community organizations, Alliance has expanded to serve individuals of all nationalities and backgrounds. Alliance is also the lead agency in the Houston Refugee VISTA Project, which includes seven partnering sites and a team of AmeriCorps VISTA members who are responsible for building the capacity of refugee organizations in the areas of health, education, and employment services. These collaborations enhance the self-sufficiency capacities of refugee agencies and help the economic integration of clients.
