Global Game Changers Community Engagement VISTA

Global Game Changers is a nonprofit organization whose Discover Your Superpower programs use our Superhero Equation: MY TALENT + MY HEART = MY SUPERPOWER! to cultivate each child's individual connection to giving back. We do so through a compassion based, Pre-K – 5th grade, Common Core State Standards compliant curriculum that empowers kids to make the world a better place! Our curricula use philanthropy as a tool to improve engagement and achievement. Our curricula are used in schools, afterschool, camp programs, and one-day workshops. They are designed to inspire a lifetime of compassion and civic engagement, while improving self-esteem, academic achievement, and children’s knowledge of both their responsibility and their ability to make a difference, no matter who they are or where they come from. We focus our efforts on at-risk students and neighborhoods. The VISTA project will support the development, expansion, and evaluation of our programs in order to prepare young students for lives of success, service, and happiness.

Member Duties : The Community Engagement VISTA will research and take advantages of opportunities for community engagement with the low-income population of Louisville in order to build a stronger connection with Global Game Changers and to assess strengths and opportunities of how Global Game Changers is meeting that community’s needs through its curriculum and programs. S/he will also engage with education stakeholders by attending trainings and meetings to integrate GGC with the broader education community in order to provide students with linear services. Finally, s/he will improve and expand connections with partner organization in order to support and leverage everyone’s resources for the greater good and support of our community.
