The mission of North Texas Performing Arts/ Plano Children's Theatre located in Plano, TX is to develop the character of youth through quality performing arts education and family entertainment. Our vision is to make our programs accessible and desirable to all North Texas families. Our theatres include Plano Children's Theatre, Frisco Youth Theatre, McKinney Youth Theatre, Fairview Youth Theatre, North Texas Performing Arts- Dallas and Fun House Theatre and Film. We offer after school and summer arts training, major productions, special needs programming, daytime performances for schools, and free community outreach. At North Texas Performing Arts/ Plano Children's Theatre, children learn responsibility, teamwork, respect, leadership, confidence, accountability, discipline, sociability, language skills and a love of learning. The Grant Writing VISTA at Plano Children’s Theatre will build capacity through the research of funding opportunities and preparation of grant applications to support our theatres to allow more underserved Dallas and Collin County youth to attend our arts training programs and provide program resources. AmeriCorps VISTA members perform only indirect service; interaction with clients will be limited and the member will spend the majority of his or her time in an office setting. However, the Grant Writing VISTA at Plano Children’s Theatre will play a dynamic role in ending poverty by helping students actively learn skills which will serve them well on and off the stage and in life. As a Plano Children’s Theatre VISTA, you will be part of a cohort coordinated by the VISTA North Texas project at Chisholm Trail RSVP, Inc. Member Duties : As a VISTA at Plano Children’s Theatre, you will help end poverty by writing grants that will allow underserved youth to learn skills which will serve them on and off the stage and in life. Major functions will include becoming familiar with arts education and agency programs, researching funding opportunities, preparing grant applications with goal of raising $500,000 and assisting in other fundraising efforts and assisting with increasing revenue to support our program. VISTAs serve their communities through indirect service. The programs developed by the Grant Writing VISTA will endure for years, however the VISTA member will have limited interaction with Plano Children’s Theatre’s clients and will be based in an office setting. Applicants should possess good researching skills, strong verbal and writing communication skills, and computer skills.
