The Winston-Salem Community Action Coalition focuses on four areas: 1) Access to resources like food and affordable housing; 2) Public health; and 3) Programs to improve economic opportunity; and 4) K-12 education and mentoring programs. We partner with lead organizations in each area, and work with a network of several other affiliated agencies, organizations, and cooperatives.

Member Duties : The AmeriCorps members will work to advance economic opportunity for low-income individuals in Winston-Salem and Forsyth county by recruiting volunteers, developing, and leveraging resources. One member will serve at Wake Forest University in the Office of Civic & Community Engagement and will expand career counseling resources for community members as well as develop and promote skill building resources (like writing clinics, resume clinics, and legal resources). The second member will serve at The Shalom Project, building capacity for the Flourish program to serve more women and families transitioning out of poverty. A third member will work with Senior Services to build their capacity to serve low-income seniors through grant writing and fundraising.
