* MEO HRDC, IX Resource Connect

The Human Resource Development Council (HRDC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit Community Action Agency dedicated to building a better community through innovation and leadership. We provide programs and services in the areas of Housing, Food & Nutrition, Child & Youth Development, Senior Empowerment, Community Transportation, Home Heating–Energy–Safety, and Community Development. The HRDC exists to help people deal with practical issues as well as the fear and stress they feel in the face of crises like hunger and homelessness or the inability to provide the basic elements of a safe and productive life for themselves and their families. HRDC's ultimate goal is to ensure that no one faces the various hardships associated with poverty alone. The Resource Connect VISTA project seeks to aid low-income families in achieving and maintaining self-sufficiency and supporting housing stability through the development of a volunteer-led life skills coaching program, and through wraparound service integration. This project will alleviate poverty by better connecting low-income families to the resources they need. The VISTA will be responsible for developing program goals related to recruitment, training, and coordination of volunteers, as well as expansion of program parameters and evaluation of program success. The VISTA member will actively engage in volunteer recruitment, coordination and development to develop and sustain programming.

Member Duties : The VISTA will build HRDC's capacity by developing a mentor-based volunteer program. It is our hope that the VISTA member will re-invigorate our volunteer program in two key capacities. First, by developing a mentor-based program, we hope to leverage the unique talents of our volunteers to run workshops and work sessions for HRDC clients that will support the efforts and goals identified in case managements sessions. These volunteer mentors will help connect in-need clients to wraparound support services. Second, the VISTA member will ensure that this mentor-based program is sustainable by refining our volunteer program and designating a special place for these volunteers to implement the programs and share developed resources. The VISTA member will develop protocols and systems to support these efforts, as well as assist in launching new fundraising software, which would allow for improved organized community-driven fundraising efforts.
