AHSP - Housing Action VISTA Leader

Since 2010 Housing Action Illinois has been creating and managing the Illinois Affordable Housing Support Project (IAHSP). The goal of IAHSP is to build the capacity of non-profit organizations throughout Illinois that fight poverty by addressing affordable housing and homelessness. To do so, we provide AmeriCorps VISTA members to those organizations. We will have approximately 30 VISTAs serving through IAHSP during the 2016-17 and 2017-18 cycles, and Housing Action needs two AmeriCorps VISTA Leaders to help support and enhance our program. Specifically, VISTA Leaders will mentor, train, provide and create resources for VISTAs to ensure they have as much impact at their non-profit organizations as possible. To be eligible, you must have served a full term of national service through AmeriCorps or a full term of service through PeaceCorps.

Member Duties : The IAHSP VISTA Leader will: (1) Maintain and improve existing project coordination aspects of IAHSP in order to ensure effective communication exists among all current VISTAs, their supervisors and Housing Action Illinois, (2) Cultivate collaboration, networking, and professional development for VISTAs, (3) Manage host site application process by evaluating, advising, troubleshooting, and orienting prospective and approved host sites, (4) Market positions and recruit prospective applicants to ensure high quality VISTAs are placed at host sites.
