Placemaking

Working with our partners in Stellar Communities (a comprehensive investment initiative), Indiana Lifelong Coalition (an effort to promote livable communities), develop and implement plans to maximize the utility of our significant investment in these communities through resident-driven planning. In addition, several of our partners in placemaking, particularly in the Stellar Communities program, have developed community space from historic but abandoned structures as part of their comprehensive investment plan, including theaters and community centers--each of these facilities has the potential to be an engine for job growth and tourism in their communities, but not one has a plan for using the facility as a tool for job creation, through tourism, event hosting or retail. For this portion of their VAD, the proposed position would talk to community residents and businesses as well as communities in which such facilities have been particularly successful to develop operations plans that will provide optimal benefit to low-income individuals through job creation or other mechanisms.
