Dutchtown South Community Corporation is seeking to build our capacity for serving our community in our two main focus areas of “Housing Development and Stabilization” and “Community Facilitation”. Their main roles will be to strengthen our organization’s efforts to support our service area residents with access to information related to housing as well as provide residents with tools for better engaging in decisions about public infrastructure and development in their neighborhood.

Member Duties : The Social Enterprise VISTA member will build the capacity of DSCC by developing the logistical and programmatic groundwork for launching at least one new social enterprise that will create jobs, provide measurable impacts on local population and directly impact low income residents in South St. Louis City, specifically in Dutchtown, Gravois Park, Marine Villa and Mt. Pleasant. As a result of the VISTA member’s service at least one new social enterprise model will be launched to support sustainable programing in our community. When residents are engaged in neighborhood level decision-making processes, research shows an increase in social capital and overall neighborhood stability. Increased neighborhood stability is essential do decreasing the poverty level in the neighborhood.
