Salida del Sol Academy Summer Associates

Salida del Sol Academy (SDSA) is the only public charter school providing a dual-language education in Weld County. The founders of SDSA along with many families believed there was a need to bring another educational opportunity to the community. In 2014, the school was built and opened their doors to 600 students. In the 2015-2016 school year, the student population was just over 680 students. The student population consists of 91% qualified for the federal free and reduced lunch program and 61% are English language learners (native Spanish speakers). It is our goal for the 2016-2017 school year to increase enrollment to 745 students. Salida del Sol Academy is committed to offering the best bilingual and multicultural educational opportunities for students and families. It our goal that students will exit eighth grade proficient in English and Spanish and performing on or above grade level in all academic areas. SDSA is hosting a summer camp for students K-8 to reduce the summer learning loss for its students. The goal of the camp is to provide fun and engaging opportunities, through music and the arts, not usually offered during the school year. SDSA aims to help students gain a better understanding of skills necessary for continued academic and social success. Brigit’s Bounty Community Resources is a giving garden and orchard in Frederick, Colorado, that provides free fresh produce to the public in tandem with educational youth programming. The Summer Associates in this position will learn gardening and supervision skills, as well as gain experience working hands-on with children.
