Rural Opportunity VISTA Project- Wayland Main Street

The Rural Opportunity VISTA Program is hosted by the Community Economic Development Association of Michigan (CEDAM). Directed out of the CEDAM office in Lansing, VISTA members will serve at a host site in rural Michigan where they will create or expand anti-poverty economic development programs. VISTA assignments vary based on the needs of the host site’s community, but all assignments are focused on capacity-building of the organization to improve programs, leverage funds and/or provide volunteer management. Ideal candidates have a dedication to serve the community. All members receive extensive training through two series of informational webinars, quarterly trainings in Lansing and opportunities to attend major professional events across the state. The two webinar series feature information on the community economic development industry and peer-facilitated discussions around transferable skills. CEDAM's AmeriCorps training is designed to prepare members with the experience, skills and knowledge needed for success in professions within community economic development.
