Volunteer Recruitment and Communication Coordinator

All Dorchester Sports League (ADSL) is a community organization committed to providing our youth participants with the resources to be healthy, active members of the community. The programs at ADSL include: T-Ball, Softball, Baseball and Basketball leagues, Volleyball, Rugby, Weightlifting and Fitness Programs for teenagers and adults, Fit Kitchen (a healthy cooking class for families), and afterschool homework help. The VISTA member will play an important role in the organization by ensuring that our programs are sufficiently supported by volunteers and that the programs are well promoted through a variety of media efforts. The selected VISTA candidate will be a member of the Boston Cares AmeriCorps VISTA program of approximately 20 VISTA members serving at more than 10 Greater Boston organizations. Pre-Service Orientation (PSO) for this position will be held August 1-4 in the Boston area. To complete your application, you will need to submit a resume and cover letter. Member Duties : The AmeriCorps VISTA at ADSL will keep a record of our programs and communicate goals and outcomes of these programs to the community. The VISTA will create documentation geared towards funders, participants, parents and community members. Additionally, they will create collateral for funders, parents, and community partners that describe ADSL’s programs services, history, need and impact. One of the ways this this will be accomplished is by researching potential interview subjects, conducting interviews with participants and creating a promotional video. The VISTA will be responsible for updating ADSL’s social media sites, such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, website, and ensuring that a monthly e-newsletter is produced. The second role of the VISTA is to be responsible for overseeing the volunteer program and tracking the recruitment rates. These volunteers would include coaches, tutors and project volunteers, all of whom make the programs at ADSL possible.
