RSVP Community Outreach/ Public Relations Specialist

RSVP’s My Free Tutor Program combines technology, corporate partnerships, and volunteer expertise to broaden STEM capabilities and future career opportunities for disadvantaged youth and college bound veterans. Volunteers also conduct career presentations throughout the region to expose students to a variety of career opportunities. Students are matched with volunteer tutors and receive personalized weekly virtual tutoring through our web-based tutoring platform, MyFreeTutor.org, complete with whiteboard and voice over capabilities. Students include disadvantaged high school students who are struggling with math and veterans enrolled in the Veteran’s Upward Bound Program at the University of Pennsylvania and Prince George’s Community College. Volunteer tutors are recruited from corporations who encourage their employees to volunteer, as well as through social media and universities. My Free Tutor is an outgrowth of RSVP’S 20 year history of developing successful and award-winning educational programs for children and youth. Developed in 2013, MFT has been tested and is ready to expand to the next level partnering with additional schools and corporations to serve more disadvantaged students and veterans.
