SERVE Philadelphia READ! By 4th Volunteer Coordinator
 
 
 
The Free Library of Philadelphia is looking for a Volunteer Coordinator VISTA to work on initiatives for the READ! By 4th campaign. READ! By 4th is a citywide campaign working through aligned programmatic efforts of 50 partners to get Philadelphia’s students reading on grade level by the end of 3rd grade. The Volunteer Coordinator position will be the first person to play a role in citywide coordination of volunteers in support of grade level reading. This position will be key to envisioning, creating and implementing systems that will allow individuals and groups to volunteer in support of the Campaign’s goals. This VISTA will develop relationships with existing organizations such as Foster Grandparents and AARP / Experience Corps, seek opportunities for alignment and efficiencies, and put in place infrastructure that will allow READ! By 4th partners to more effectively utilize volunteers.

Member Duties : Complete an asset map of how and where volunteers are currently serving in support of the campaign. Identify gaps and opportunities to expand Philadelphia’s use of volunteers in support of the campaign. Assess the volunteer engagement and management needs of campaign partners. Assess the volunteer needs of our campaign partners. Identify best practices for volunteer recruitment and engagement developed by other cities participating in the Campaign for Grade-Level Reading. Work with staff and key stakeholders, create systems that would support better coordination and alignment of existing and future efforts. Work with campaign stakeholders to develop simple systems to expand the capacity of existing programs to support coordination of new volunteers. Develop systems for tracking inputs and outputs related to volunteer recruitment, engagement and service in Philadelphia and in support of the READ! by 4th campaign goals.
