Woman to Woman Pregnancy Resource Center is located in Denton, TX. Woman to Woman Pregnancy Resource Center (PRC) empowers individuals to make wise life choices financially, sexually, and relationally through 3 programs that work together to provide assistance to women in unintended pregnancies and bring families out of poverty. Ninety percent (90%) of the clients receiving services through the programs at Woman to Woman PRC fall below the poverty line with an average annual income of $17,000. The clinic at Woman to Woman PRC provides free medical services, including pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, prenatal care and medical follow-ups, as well as counseling to clients. Woman to Woman's Living Choices of North Texas program is a school-based program with the mission of educating youth, equipping parents and engaging the community with accurate facts concerning sexual health and well-being. The Twice as Nice Resale Store of Denton is a thrift store that supports the mission of Woman to Woman PRC. Women seeking services from Woman to Woman have the opportunity to receive new and gently used merchandise from the thrift store for themselves and their children free of charge through the Earn and Learn Program. The VISTA Member placed at our agency will build capacity by creating and implementing a grant writing program. AmeriCorps VISTA members perform only indirect service; interaction with clients will be limited and the member will spend the majority of his or her time in an office setting. However, the Woman to Woman VISTA will play a dynamic role in ending poverty by researching and applying for at least 4 grants with a potential outcome of $75,000. As a Woman to Woman VISTA, you will be part of a cohort coordinated by the VISTA North Texas project at Chisholm Trail RSVP, Inc. Early applications are strongly encouraged. Member Duties : As a VISTA at Woman to Woman Pregnancy Resource Center, you will help end poverty by obtaining funding through grants to offer free medical care and education to economically disadvantaged women. Major functions will include researching grant resources and developing a strategy for application. The VISTA will develop grant research and application procedures to be used to train staff and future volunteers to secure future funding through the grant process. The VISTA member will write a minimum of 4 grants with a potential outcome of $75,000 VISTAs serve their communities through indirect service. The programs developed by the Grant Development VISTA will endure for years, however the VISTA member will have limited interaction with Woman to Woman’s clients and will be based in an office setting. Applicants should possess strong verbal and written communication skills and computer skills. Grant writing knowledge a plus.
