Transitions New Leaf Job Training Program

The AmeriCorps project provides job readiness and placement services within the scope of the New Leaf Bakery Café Job Training program. Transitions' New Leaf job training program provides hands on food service skills and training to low income and/or homeless women in the Spokane community. Training is a six month long, intensive, individualized program that takes into account the unique needs of the low income population being served. Further, New Leaf provides shorter term barista training in a retail café setting, where participants learn front of the house and barista skills in an eight week training program. The AmeriCorps member will work directly with trainees in both the café and kitchen programs to provide individualized job readiness support, placement services upon graduation, and job retention support for graduates who have obtained employment. In addition to the services provided, the New Leaf is guided by principles of trauma-informed care. There is also a kitchen garden that supplies fresh produce to the job training program, which the AmeriCorps member will recruit volunteers for and help manage. This position is contingent on funding.
