Summer Associate at Food Bank of Eastern Michigan
 
 
 
The Summer Food Service Program, facilitated by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), aims to fill that gap, providing children with free, healthy meals during the summer months when school is not in session and when many children often face missing meals and lack of proper nutrition. Featuring an average of 13,000 – 15,000 pounds of supplemental food, the Mobile Food Pantry allows agencies the ability to target areas of great need- even though they may not be physically located in that area. In addition, volunteers and teens participating in the Summer Youth Initiative sort food and assemble product at the Food Bank facility.

Member Duties : Summer Associates will support the distribution of around 7,000 meals per week to agencies that support summer feeding programs, oversee teens and other volunteers in food sorting and assembling, and promote nutrition outreach programs including mobile food distribution and focusing on foods that mitigate the affects of lead exposure.
