ShareCorps- Homeport- Neighborhood Revitalization

Homeport is a private non-profit organization whose mission it is to create and preserve healthy, stable and affordable communities, one neighborhood, one person at a time. We do this by developing quality and energy efficient homes; providing consistent and transformative education and services to address each resident’s unique barriers to, and opportunities for, success; involving and empowering residents, focusing on community revitalization; and creating strong and fruitful collaborations. Homeport was established in 1987 through joint efforts of the City of Columbus, The Enterprise Foundation, the Columbus Board of Realtors, and The Columbus Foundation, along with local religious and private sector leaders. From its inception, Homeport has focused its efforts on alleviating the affordable housing crisis in Central Ohio and on investing in the region’s economically-neglected neighborhoods. Homeport has established itself as the largest locally-focused nonprofit producer of affordable housing and related services in the region, and as one of the top fifteen producers of affordable housing in the NeighborWorks America national network. Homeport is a VISTA sub-site of the Ohio Association of Foodbanks ShareCorps program.
