Mentor Programs VISTA (Central Oregon)
Better Together and Big Brothers Big Sisters are partnering to develop and implement school based mentoring programs throughout central Oregon specifically focused on middle school students to ensure they have the support necessary to make a successful transition to High School. These school based mentoring programs will occur for students during their school day and will be a time when youth are paired with mentors meeting regularly throughout the year for additional support and mentoring. These mentor pairs will follow a future focused curriculum to engage and empower students to begin thinking about success in high school and beyond. The VISTA in this role will play a key part in helping develop and implement these programs in middle schools in the region. Check us out on the worldwide web:

Member Duties : This AmeriCorps VISTA will work with Big Brothers Big Sisters staff to develop and implement school based mentoring programs in middle schools in central Oregon. They will work to build relationships and commitments with school staff to initially implement the program, and will help develop systems for sustainability. This VISTA will also work to recruit mentors for the program as well as help develop curriculum and program materials with Big Brothers Big Sisters staff. This an exciting opportunity for someone interested in creating a lasting change for vulnerable youth in our community.
