2016 Volunteer Coordinator VISTA (826CHI)
 
 
 
826 National will work with Corps 18 volunteers to build the organization’s capacity to work with underserved youth in order to develop essential writing and creative thinking skills that lead to academic success. Corps 18 volunteers will support volunteer recruitment, program development, and organizational capacity building in seven different writing and tutoring centers located in seven urban areas across the country (San Francisco, Ann Arbor/Detroit, Los Angeles, Washington DC, Boston, Chicago, and New York).

Member Duties : *Build local awareness of 826CHI through community partnerships to recruit more community volunteers, in order to sustain and expand free writing and tutoring programs for underserved youth.*Build local awareness of 826CHI through communications campaigns across social media platforms, website, and traditional media on recruiting more community volunteers, in order to sustain and expand free writing and tutoring programs for underserved youth.*Support a system for measuring and sharing the impact of 826CHI’s literacy programs for underserved youth.*Build relationships with media outlets to share the impact of 826CHI’s literacy programs on underserved youth, in order to attract financially and volunteer resources to maintain free programming.*Develop a system to coordinate and archive contacts across the organizations many communications platforms to improve external messaging about 826CHI’s service to underserved youth.
