2016 Corps 18 Tutor Training and Evaluation VISTA (MOI)
 
 
 
Mid-Continent Oceanographic Institute (MOI) tutoring center serves as headquarters for after-school homework help, writing workshops, and bookmaking and storytelling field trips. The Tutor Training and Evaluation Coordinator will increase MOI’s capacity to serve under-resourced students in the Twin Cities by adequately training and equipping volunteers with tutoring best practices. The Tutoring and Training Evaluation Coordinator will augment MOI’s current practices to meet the needs of existing and new programs. The VISTA will also work closely with the Program Coordinator to collect and analyze tutoring interaction data. The Tutor Training and Evaluation Coordinator will use the data to create recommendations for program improvement.

Member Duties : *Analyze MOI’s tutor training program and develop a year-long training program that includes orientation, basic training, program specific training, and skill workshops.*Analyze MOI’s tutor interaction data and use the information to improve MOI’s programming and capacity.*Create system for individual volunteer feedback.*Develop new ways to evaluate programs.*Gather anecdotal evidence and success stories from program participants, volunteers, parents, and other community members.
