2016 Corps 18 Community Outreach VISTA (MOI)

Mid-Continent Oceanographic Institute (MOI) tutoring center serves as headquarters for after-school homework help, writing workshops, and bookmaking and storytelling field trips. The Community Outreach VISTA will help MOI build and maintain existing partnerships with schools, businesses, foundations, and community centers. The VISTA will work closely with the MOI board to create a retail storefront in the tutoring center and the Executive Director to coordinate fundraising events. By working to build capacity in the above areas, MOI's VISTA volunteer will raise revenue and create new partnerships to support MOI’s free programs targeting under-resourced youth, as well as move the organization toward a more stable, sustainable revenue model.
