YMCA Immigrant & Opportunity Youth VISTA Project (LA)

Located in the Koreatown area of Los Angeles, just west of Downtown, the Association headquarters (where this position will be located) are central to all of the Greater Los Angeles area. The immediately local area is one of few where affordable housing is still available, is walkable, and has a Metro rail line service. Our offices provide support to the branches and camps in the areas of Human Resources, Accounting & Finance, Mission Advancement & Financial Development, and Operations including Membership, Aquatics, Health & Wellbeing, Youth & Family Program Development, and Leadership & Organizational Development. Through the Urban Initiative – Cradle to Career Success, the LA Y intends to develop a clear pathway of fully supported YMCA engagement for youth that begins at birth and extends through early adulthood. Through the New American Welcome Center (NAWC) model, the LA Y intends to expand a needed community resource center for newcomer/immigrant populations. The VISTA at the LA Y will develop a gap analysis for the Urban Initiative- Cradle to Career Success programs to determine where the continuum of services need strengthening to meet the needs of our communities. In addition, the VISTA will support the expansion of the NAWC to additional branches by researching community needs and developing new partnerships.
