MTCC-YWCA Missoula GUTS! Summer Program
 
 
 
YWCA Missoula’s mission is to eliminate racism and empower women and to promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all people. GUTS! (Girls Using Their Strengths) is a unique, community-based leadership and empowerment program designed by and for young women, ages 9 to 18. The GUTS! mission is to support young women in discovering their strengths, developing their leadership skills, and using their voices to activate positive community change through mentoring, small group discussion, outdoor challenges and community action projects. This project will provide enrichment opportunities to prevent summer learning loss and increase leadership skills in young women. GUTS! runs outdoor adventure programs for low-income girls ages 9-19 each summer. The program provides STEM-related educational activities and outdoor leadership to combat summer learning loss.

Member Duties : The AmeriCorps Summer Associate will •Develop partnerships with organizations to provide STEM-related activities in the Summer Adventures.•Assist with the implementation of a youth training program for high school leaders.•Research new STEM curriculum for the GUTS! Summer Program.•Lead group activities, one-on-one mentorship and positive role-modeling to girls ages 9-19.•Implement and apply evaluation tools to ensure GUTS! is providing the best services possible, focusing specifically on youth leadership training and STEM curriculum.•Represent YWCA and the GUTS! program.•Project a positive image of the YWCA, using effective public relations skills.•Demonstrate competence as an information source about the YWCA programs and GUTS! activities.•Work with GUTS! Program Manager to accomplish GUTS! goals/objectives.
