** MTCC - Salish Kootenai College

Salish Kootenai College (SKC) is a tribal college located on the Flathead Indian Reservation in northwestern Montana. SKC Upward Bound serves 84 high school students during the school year, and 50 students during the summer. Approximately 40 students attend the Upward Bound residential program, while some complete curriculum at-distance. Upward Bound provides a comprehensive range of academic, cultural, community service, college visitation, and other college preparatory activities. Staff coordinate with campus, local, and regional organizations to enrich the curriculum and present students with ongoing academic, cultural, and social programming. Partner agencies include the campus prevention program; SKC art, cultural studies, and athletic departments; academic and technology departments; Boys and Girls Club, Glacier National Park Plant Restoration Project; Bob Marshall Wilderness; and others. Upward Bound students additionally participate in a regional, week-long college tour. This project will help prevent summer learning loss and prepare students to better access post-secondary educational opportunities.
