ShareCorps-Bedford Heights- Summer Associate

The Bedford Heights Department of Community Life provides a variety of programs and activities designed to meet the needs of the residents, representing all ages and interest. The programs and services are provided in the following areas: Aquatics, Senior Services, Sports & Leagues, Fitness, Membership Services, Parks & Playgrounds, and Rental Services. The Summer Youth Program is implemented under the auspices of the Parks & Playgrounds Division. Youth who attend SFSP sites also participate in structured programs coordinated in conjunction with Sports and Leagues, Fitness and Aquatics. Bedford Heights is a VISTA sub-site of the Ohio Association of Foodbanks ShareCorps project.

Member Duties : Members serve the Bedford community to ensure that youth have access to healthy and nutritious meals daily, and help oversee an array of structured day to day activities during the summer months. Associates will be trained in best practices for academic, recreation, and nutrition services for school-age youth in order to provide the best program to the children and contribute to the mission of the Bedford Heights Department of Community Life. Members will promote a learning environment that is supportive, fun, and a safe space for participants by providing academic and recreational activities such as local field trips, planting and harvesting nutritious food in the community garden, and leading reading and math retention activities.
