MCSC Youth Resource Initiative VISTA
 
 
 
The MCSC Youth Resource VISTA Initiative will positively impact communities by reaching the following project goals: 1) Develop mechanisms for youth, parents, and youth serving organizations to access resources that enhance the skill sets of youth and assist them with being successful in school and/or work. 2) Assist with developing solutions to decrease the opportunity gaps faced by youth in Michigan. These goals will be accomplished through objectives that include: asset and resource coordination; recruiting and engaging volunteers; establishing a youth voice in the communities; promoting easier access to work and career opportunities. Michigan Community Service Commission utilizes service as a strategy to address the state's most pressing issues and empowers volunteers to strengthen communities. Positions through this VISTA Project are available at the following Host Sites and Locations: -Disability Network Wayne County in Detroit, MI -Clark Park Coalition in Detroit, MI -Mentor2Youth in Ypsilanti, MI -Winning Futures in Warren, MI -Youth Development Company in South Haven, MI -Detroit Public Schools Community District in Detroit, MI -The University of Michigan Ginsberg Center in Ann Arbor, MI -Michigan State University, Center for Service-Learning & Civic Engagement in Lansing, MI -Detroit PAL in Detroit, MI

Member Duties : •Recruit and engage volunteers, both youth and adults, to be involved with developing and implementing solutions that assist boys and young men of color to be successful. •Establish on-going communication with volunteers. •Implement asset mapping to identify pertinent resources for youth across the community. •Develop and implement a fund development plan to assist with sustainability of initiative. •Maintain and track data to gauge the level of success of implemented programs.
