Boys & Girls Club of Kootenai County Summer Associate

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Kootenai County offers a variety of after-school and summer programs to youth living throughout North Idaho. We operate our summer program out of our main Clubhouse located in Post Falls, with approximately 350-400 kids per day. The summer program is a place for youth to hang out with their friends in a safe and positive environment, learn new skills, and prevent "losing" what they learned during the school year. Staff enjoy the summer months because they can do more outdoor activities like walks, garbage pick-up (the kids ask for this!), water fights, and community events. The majority of youth coming to the Boys & Girls Club are from low income and/or single-parent households. VSAs will have the important opportunity to mentor these youth and make a huge difference in their lives. Mentoring programs are proven to be highly effective in populations such as ours. Having a caring adult that pays attention to your needs and empowers you reach your dreams is invaluable to a child. When a VSA is not mentoring or working with Program Coordinators on the Summer Education Programs and Triple Play, they will be helping students in math or reading clubs or supporting other group activities!
