Safe Corps, Disaster Services - Commerce
 
 
 
The AmeriCorps members who serve in the Disaster Cycle Services (DCS) department will assist their local territories with the development and the growth of our disaster services program. Members will prepare community members for disasters, provide CPR/First Aid training, respond to local emergencies, and support the recovery of community members who have been affected by disasters. Safe Corps members will serve approximately 40 hours per week for a total of 1,700 service hours in a 10.5 month term. Benefits include a bi-weekly stipend of $782.61, health and dental coverage, and childcare assistance to those who qualify. Upon successful completion, members will receive an Education Award of $10,000 to use towards qualified student loans, or future tuition, and will qualify for student loan forbearance during the period of service.

Member Duties : We are looking for self-motivated and passionate individuals to join the California Safe Corps. Our AmeriCorps Disaster Cycle Services members are responsible for preparing community members for disasters through delivering preparedness trainings and participating in Sound the Alarm events, and responding to local emergencies as an active member of the Disaster Action Team (DAT). Responsibilities also include: delivering CPR/First Aid trainings and recruiting, training, and overseeing volunteers.
