CAPI USA Workforce Development Coordinator (EMERGE)
 
 
 
This position is part of the Emerge VISTA program and located at CAPI USA. CAPI USA is a Minneapolis nonprofit that has been working with the refugee and immigrant communities since 1982 and serves over 3,500 participants annually. Our mission is to guide refugees and immigrants in their journey toward self-determination and social equality. Through holistic programming that includes health and human services (Asian-specific food shelf, community gardens, MNSure/Immunizations, Senior/Elders programs) and workforce development (MFIP, RES/RSS, Career Pathways, Financial Services), we seek to enhance economic and social change opportunities that allow people of all ages and nationalities to lead successful lives. Member Duties : You will have the opportunity to connect with employers and other community based organizations, develop volunteer programs, enhance financial literacy services, and conduct meaningful research. As a VISTA, you will have the opportunity to 1) Develop a solid and sustainable VITA Tax Program that serves 175 low-income individuals per tax season; Expand CAPI's VITA program by developing an intern-based financial coaching curriculum that aligns with VITA Services; Research non-credentialed training programs with the intent on developing and implementing an in-house training focused on serving refugees and immigrants with low literacy and math levels; Expand capacity of workforce programs by developing relationships with employers and increasing employer engagement; Research and begin preliminary implementation process for CAPI to provide IDA Services and become HUD Certified. Further, you will build skills in communication, leadership, organization, and workforce development.
