Youth Program Coordinator-The Canvas (CSP)
 
 
 
The Canvas, located inside Hancock Recreation Center, is an arts-based teen center conceived and run entirely by youth, for youth. Promoting values such as social, artistic, and intellectual development, the Canvas uses art to build community and improve the lives of youth. The program provides independent workspaces, workshops and seminars in the arts, and discussions and events on issues important to youth. Teens can attend workshops on dance, rapping, spoken-word, photography, fiction and more.

Member Duties : The Canvas Coordinator will take the lead on a two-fold project: First by recruiting, supporting, and providing a cohort of teen arts leaders, specifically reaching out to leaders of color, with the tools to develop their own arts programming (youth development). - Develop recruitment materials, applications and language - Organize and pilot youth training sessions - Research outreach and engagement strategies that would be effective for the wider St. Paul youth community - Create mechanism for future project evaluation. Second, the Canvas Coordinator will build the capacity of the Canvas Youth Arts Center by developing long-lasting partnerships with organizations, artists, and our surrounding community (program development).
