Youth Leadership Coordinator-St. Paul Public Libraries (CSP)

The mission of Saint Paul Public Library (SPPL) is to connect people in St. Paul with the imperative and joy of learning through a lifetime. SPPL is committed to racial equity and inclusion, and the Youth Leadership Council (YLC) brings diverse voices from these key stakeholders. SPPL values creating opportunities for teens to gather around a project, and we see YLC as a pathway to connect with additional community resources, jobs, and opportunities. Candidates best for this position will be willing to explore new ideas and strategies, will demonstrate cultural competency, and will take initiative for the success of the project. The VISTA will coordinate the Youth Leadership Council (YLC) for libraries throughout St. Paul. The goals of the YLC are to foster a sense of belonging, create meaningful volunteer opportunities for teens, improve teen programming, promote leadership, and empower the teen voice. The YLC is based in Createch, a creative space for teens in SPPL. At YLC meetings, teens give feedback on Createch and SPPL, discuss relevant topics, and build leadership skills. **This position is part of the City of St. Paul VISTA Cohort. This cohort provides a learning community of 20 fellow VISTA members all serving within Saint Paul. We provide bi-weekly professional development training and additional support throughout the year.
