The ARCGNY NPRC Program is currently accepting applications for positions in the following locations in New York State: -Plattsburgh -Watertown -Buffalo -Mineola -New York City NPRC RESPONSIBILITIES -Acts as part of a team to complete NPRC goals & objectives. -Coordinates in collaboration with others a special project relating to the accomplishment of NPRC goals & objectives. -Participates in member development activities of NPRC. -Completes NPRC Member Hour/Activity report. -Performs other duties as requested by site staff related to the principal duties & responsibilities of the National Preparedness & Response Corps program. REQUIREMENTS Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience -Previous experience & success working with diverse populations -At least one year of volunteer or community service experience -Excellent oral & written communication, organizational, & interpersonal skills -Demonstrated professionalism & initiative -Team-oriented -A current valid driver's license & a clean driving record -Willing to be on call & work long hours -A U.S. Citizen, U.S. National or lawful permanent resident alien of the U.S. -Willing to make an 11 month commitment and complete 1700 hours of service. Member Duties : The mission of the American Red Cross is to provide relief to victims of disaster and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. We provide vital emergency assistance to individuals and communities affected by disasters and build community preparedness before disasters strike. Members make a full time commitment to disaster response working varying hours to meet the needs of the community. They will provide emergency assistance to the families affected daily fires and evictions; spend time training the community to be ready for emergencies through disaster preparedness education; and be on-call for short-notice deployment to disasters across the country supporting American Red Cross efforts. We offer Corps members a chance to serve in one of the most dynamic and diverse communities in the nation. Our jurisdictional area of 9 million people averages 8 to 10 disasters per day.
