Central MN Jobs and Training Services - Initiative Fdn

The mission of CMJTS is to strengthen Minnesota communities through leadership in workforce excellence. CMJTS is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and a partner in the Minnesota Workforce Center system. Since 1984, CMJTS has provided customer-focused employment and training services for individuals and businesses in the Central Minnesota Local Workforce Development Area 5. CMJTS matches job seekers, including youth, adults, and seniors, with job training resources that prepare them for self-sufficient jobs and matches business with qualified workers and resources to grow their business. CMJTS carries out this work through funding from federal, state, and local employment and training grants, and through discretionary funding that supports its mission and core programs. CMJTS has assisted over 2,500 youth, adults and seniors with employment services this past year alone. The demand for services, however, outweighs CMJTS’ ability to serve. The VISTA project will increase CMJTS’ capacity to serve additional job seekers, job changers, and businesses in central Minnesota by developing volunteer and fund development programs that supplement current grant activities. Duties will include developing a calendar to track appropriate grant opportunities, planning fundraising and donor recognition events, implementing donor tracking software, and researching avenues for additional revenue streams. The VISTA will also expand the newly developed volunteer program. CMJTS’ corporate office is located in Monticello, a thriving community of 13,000 with a small-town feel nestled along the banks of the Mississippi River. Monticello boasts parks, golf courses, restaurants, and a near-by outlet mall. The St. Cloud regional center, 30 miles north, offers regional healthcare and two- and four-year colleges. For big-city amenities, the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area is only 40 miles south.
