PHENND - SDP Office of the Arts and Academic Enrichment
 
 
 
PHENND (The Philadelphia Higher Education Network for Neighborhood Development) is a 25-year-old consortium of over 25 colleges and universities in the Greater Philadelphia region. The consortium actively seeks to revitalize local communities and promote civic responsibility through service learning among the region's higher education institutions. As part of our K-16 Partnerships Network, the PHENND VISTA project represents a sixth year of partnership with the School District of Philadelphia to expand the infrastructure for community partnership development across Philadelphia.

Member Duties : The AmeriCorps VISTA will work in the Office of the Arts and Academic Enrichment at the School District of Philadelphia. The work involved in this project includes communicating and collaborating with the vast array of arts partners already providing service to schools, many of which have been identified by the new Partnership Census. The VISTA will help the District work more strategically with arts partners as a whole at the District-level, paying particular attention the large-scale, city-wide arts organizations such as the Kimmel Center, Opera Company, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Additionally, the VISTA will also help inventory existing visual and performing art resources, as well as identify new potential partners and funding sources, with the long term goal of providing more equitable access to performing and visual arts opportunities for all Philadelphia school students over the next three years.
