Chisholm Trail RSVP-ODB Grant Research and Development VISTA

Our Daily Bread, located in Denton, TX, is a community soup kitchen that serves a free, nutritious lunch meal Monday through Friday to the hungry and homeless in Denton County and surrounding areas. Our Daily Bread serves an average of 220 meals per day. With only one full time paid staff person and three part time staff, the contribution by volunteers is critical as they provide more than 35,000 hours of service per year. Volunteers assist with all phases of the operation: food preparation, delivery, and clean-up; pick-up of donated food, health services by a physician and registered nurses, assistance with fund-raising and grant writing, social services referral programs, and many other activities. The Grant Research and Development VISTA will expand the services offered at Our Daily Bread through grant research and writing and the exploration and development of additional resources to expand the quality services offered to the hungry and homeless of Denton, TX. AmeriCorps VISTA members perform only indirect service; interaction with clients will be limited and the member will spend the majority of his or her time in an office setting. However, the Our Daily Bread VISTA will play a dynamic role in ending poverty by increasing out financial capacity to provide more clients with nutritious meals and basic needs services. . As an Our Daily Bread VISTA you will be part of a cohort coordinated by the AmeriCorps VISTA North Texas project at Chisholm Trail RSVP, Inc. Early applications strongly encouraged.
