Giving HOPE Inc.is located in Denton, TX. The mission of Giving HOPE Inc. is to give a hand up to those experiencing or at-risk of homelessness through advocacy, community collaboration, and rental assistance in Denton County. Giving HOPE, Inc. assists people who live in Denton County, are homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless; and have the ability and the desire to help themselves establish and maintain self-reliance and self-sufficiency. The Resource Development VISTA at Giving HOPE, Inc.will enhance fundraising capabilities and opportunities within the local community through the participation of community groups and businesses, the cultivation of relationships with new donors as well as research and write grants that are in line with the agency’s mission. AmeriCorps VISTA members perform only indirect service; interaction with clients will be limited and the member will spend the majority of his or her time in an office setting. However, the Giving HOPE, Inc. VISTA will play a dynamic role in ending poverty by increasing our financial capacity to provide adequate shelter to those in need and by assisting them with life skills to remain in that shelter. As a Giving HOPE, Inc. Resource Development VISTA you will be part of a cohort coordinated by the AmeriCorps VISTA North Texas project at Chisholm Trail RSVP, Inc. Member Duties : As a VISTA at Giving HOPE you will help end poverty by increasing our financial capacity to give a hand up to those experiencing or at-risk of homelessness in Denton County Texas. Major functions include enhancing fundraising capabilities and opportunities within the local community, cultivating relationships with new donors as well as researching and writing grants in line with the agency’s mission. The VISTA will research, develop and implement small-scale fundraising opportunities to be utilized throughout the year. VISTAs serve their communities through indirect service. The programs developed by the Resource Development VISTA will endure for years, however the VISTA member will have limited interaction with Giving HOPE clients and will be based in an office setting. Applicants must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, computer skills, be outgoing and possess the ability to work independently. Experience with fundraising and grant writing a plus.
