ShareCorps - Mid-Ohio FB - Volunteer Recruitment & Retention

Mid-Ohio Foodbank provides food to hundreds of thousands of hungry Ohioans each year by partnering with more than 620 community partners across 20 counties in central and eastern Ohio, including food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, senior centers, and after-school programs. In 2015, the Foodbank distributed more than 55 million pounds of food and grocery products to their partner charities. Mid-Ohio Foodbank is a member of Feeding America. The Kroger Community Food Pantry at Mid-Ohio Foodbank is a busy, working food pantry - currently serving over 1500 families every month! In addition, the pantry is a Learning Lab - striving to increase the capacity of MOF partner agencies (soup kitchens, food pantries, senior centers, and other emergency feeding sites) to do more so that together we can end hunger in Central Ohio. The Kroger Food Pantry tests new innovations and identifies best practices while maintaining a high level of compassion, discretion, and client-focus. The Mid-Ohio Foodbank is a VISTA sub-site of the Ohio Association of Foodbanks ShareCorps program.

Member Duties : The Kroger Community Food Pantry is a private partnership with Kroger and the Mid-Ohio Foodbank. As a VISTA member, you would sleuth out the gaps in our current volunteer program and help develop a comprehensive volunteer program that will bolster volunteer recruitment, enhance volunteer training materials and increase volunteer retention rates. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills in best practice research, writing and editing, document creation and community outreach. The best part? By building the capacity of our volunteer program, you have a direct hand in providing more fresh, healthy food to families in need!
