CareerConnect VISTA (Central Oregon)

This VISTA position will join Better Together—a regional, cross-sector partnership working collectively to improve children and youth success from before birth to career. This VISTA member will focus their outreach and partnership development efforts in our priority of aligning education/training students receive with career opportunities. Specifically, this VISTA will work to build systems and capacity in Central Oregon that help link students to meaningful work experiences. The VISTA will serve in critical support of the complex social issue of ensuring long-term student success (defined as ending in a meaningful career). The member will work to increase the capacity and sustainability of a cutting edge student success movement that is data driven, innovative and is gaining increasing recognition on the state and national stage. Through the frame of Collect Impact (see www.fsg.org for more information on Collective Impact), this VISTA serving with Better Together will invite and engage schools, higher education institutions, businesses, government agencies, community based organizations, non-profits and individual community members to align and increase the number of students participating in meaningful work experiences. The VISTA member will work to encourage the community to continue to rally around a simple, but profoundly compelling call to action: “Find your role, help students excel - we’re Better Together!"
