Pine Ridge Promise Zone - Land Office

The OST Land Office is a program of Oglala Sioux Tribe (OST) on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation providing records management of the various land allotments for the reservation. This program will impact poverty by providing updated, accurate mapping of the infrastructure components for the Oglala Sioux Tribe. Therefore, providing the OST leadership and planners better information to make decisions on development, leasing and land purchase options, management of natural resources, and a multitude of land/housing issues. The Field Data Specialist will help provide updated and quality control measures for home site and other building infrastructure mapping for the OST Land Office.

Member Duties : Review and write GPS Manual. Research and Finalize Trailer and Modular home code for OST. Create Quality Control procedures for OST Land Office. Update tribal codes for trailer homes and other buildings within tribal lands. Refine tribal environmental code and procedures. Research Zoning codes and methods. Conduct title searches and develop process for brining land into trust. Conduct funding and resources needs assessment. Identify potential funding sources. Write grants, as needed. Develop Train the trainer model for max.gov. Pilot training for max.gov Participate in monthly all-VISTA meetings, Americorps Days of Service and various community outings.
