ShareCorps-Oberlin Comm Services-Resource Development Coord
 
 
 
Oberlin Community Services (OCS) is a responsive community organization that provides direct assistance, referrals, and other services to Oberlin and southern Lorain County residents and groups who neeed help meeting basic needs. Our staff is small but remarkably dedicated and efficient. By the measure of clients served - more than 9500 households in 2016 - we are the largest "safety-net" agency in our service area. The Resource Development Coordinator will work across our programmatic areas looking at potential grant opportunities and working with the Executive Director coordinate those applications for federal, state and community grants. OCS is the largest food pantry in Lorain County and as such we are a trusted resource in our community. Our prgrams have grown as a result of our strategic planning process and our Resource Development Coordinator will work across those program areas including food, emergency assistance and economic development. Oberlin Community Services is a VISTA sub-site of the Ohio Association of Foodbanks ShareCorps program.

Member Duties : The VISTA member will be an integral member of our OCS staff. The VISTA member will meet with each staff member to learn their funding mechanisms and build a plan for 2017 funding across a twelve month planning period. The member will be responsible to helping diversify our funding streams by researching current/past grants, understanding staff funding needs, and researching available grants that support mission. The member will create a grant database and a tracking system to assist with future grant planning and be able to flag deadlines and potential grants. After grant systems have been created, the member will help develop recruitment and mobilization plans for volunteers to assist with funding needs and streamlining grant processes.
