Communications and Development Coordinator VISTA- KIPP- C3TC

The mission of KIPP Minnesota is to establish & operate high performing public schools in the Twin Cities that confront educational inequity by delivering academic excellence & cultivating leadership skills to ensure all students succeed in college and life. KIPP Minnesota was founded in 2006 by coalition of local philanthropic and business leaders to address the racial & economic achievement gaps within Twin Cities’ public schools. KIPP Minnesota’s first school opened in 2008 in downtown Minneapolis with a 5th grade class and promoted its first class of 8th graders in 2012. Over the years we have expanded our reach now operating a number of schools especially in North Minneapolis. We are part of the national KIPP (Knowledge is Power Program) network of 209 college-preparatory schools that teach primarily students of color from low-income households. Nationally, KIPP alumni have earned college degrees at a rate that exceeds the national average and is more than four times higher than the low-income college completion rate. All KIPP schools are structured around these five pillars: • High Expectations for academic achievement and conduct, • Strength of Character that is fostered at school and essential for success, • Highly Effective Teachers and Leaders who are empowered to lead and supported in their professional growth, • Safe, Structured, and Nurturing Environments that minimize distractions so students maximize their learning, • KIPP Through College to support our alumni as they prepare for and select the right college and career for their needs and interests. **This position is part of the C3 Twin Cities VISTA Program. C3 Twin Cities offers a unique cohort experience rooted in a social justice framework. It also offers $400 of monthly housing support,$50 gas card (monthly) for transportation support and professional development opportunities. Check out www.c3twincities.org for more details.
