Systems Change Innovator- Eastside Financial Center-C3TC

As a one-stop-shop for financial information, resources, & tools, Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota’s Eastside Financial Center (LSS EFC) provides a continuum of financial wellness services: financial counseling & education, integrated career & financial coaching services, customized matched savings programming, access to banking and financial products, and free tax preparation services. Financially-focused resources are scarce in our community & our variety of services can meet participants at whatever stage they are. Services are geared towards empowering people to achieve financial wellness (financial counseling: budgeting, credit, debt, and education), combat poverty and build wealth through income (employment) and/or assets, & economic and social justice. In addition to the various financial services, strategic partnerships play a significant role in helping the EFC achieve the financial wellness needs of the community in that they can help promote financial wellness, leverage and share resources, and lead to symbiotic collaboration. We are searching for a VISTA who is passionate about social & economic justice, financial wellness, community wealth building, & communications and social media. Incumbent will help assess current landscape of services, explore potential for growth and how it all fits into community wealth building. Incumbent will also use learnings to apply towards communications and social media strategies to promote community wealth building. Office located on the 64 bus line with an active ridership in the heart of the Payne-Phalen neighborhood. **This position is part of the C3 TwinCities VISTA Program. C3 TwinCities offers a unique cohort experience rooted in a social justice framework. It also offers $200 of monthly housing support, transportation support and professional development opportunities. Check out www.c3twincities.org for details.

Member Duties : The VISTA will build EFC’s capacity to better achieve its mission by integrating & applying community wealth building (CWB) strategies within the organization. This will occur by assessing the use of current services & programs, exploring innovative ways to engage community members & partners to maximize community wealth building strategies. As a result of applied CWB strategies, the eastside community will have better tools to build financial resilience & wealth. Create a CWB evaluation system to assess current services to identify opportunities to integrate strategies aligned with CWB. Develop a strategic road map for EFC’s CWB work: new partnerships & opportunities for banking and financial products, opportunities for social enterprise. Develop a comprehensive revamp of EFC’s communications (web & print) to reflect CWB language, principles & values which would complement our already existing language around financial wellness services, & social and economic justice.
