City of Memphis/ Healthy Futures Wellness Coordinator
 
 
 
The City of Memphis has over 15,000 employees and retirees, including 5,000 part-time employees and retirees without health benefits and/or access to wellness/preventative services. Health disparities and the lack of knowledge are major concerns for all employees and retirees, especially those without health benefits. Developing outreach, engagement and education opportunities through partnerships with local health agencies is critical to providing increased opportunities for individuals to make informed decisions concerning their health. The City of Memphis provides services and leadership to all community throughout this great City. To create an organizational culture of wellness it’s imperative that all of our employees/retirees are provided knowledge and skills concerning health and wellness for them to make an informed decision for themselves and their families. The city of Memphis Office of Health, Wellness, and Benefits will engage two (2)AmeriCorps VISTA Healthy futures Wellness Coordinators to support the implementation these efforts by developing partnerships, networking, and collaborations with other local health agencies to provide quality services.

Member Duties : The VISTA member will work over the course of a year to assist the City with creating an organizational culture of wellness. Assist with health promotion programs including but not limited to health screenings, wellness events, nutritional programs, educational, fitness center and disease management activities. Recommend and coordinate wellness and special events with Wellness Coordinator. Evaluate fitness centers schedule and participate in monthly Wellness Committee meeting. Develop relationships and communication with other local health agencies that lead to partnerships, networking and collaborations. Develop content/ gather information for the Health, Wellness and Benefits webpage.
